The “Starts, Turns & Underwater Development Camp” is structured to enhance an individual’s explosive speed and power off the blocks and turns.  A combination of classroom lectures with complimenting pool drill and demo sessions explains the proper mechanics of the forward start, backstroke start, plus the four-stroke turns. We use verbal, visual, and kinesthetic learning modalities to rebuild or enhance existing mechanisms unique to the individual. The STARTS, TURNS & UNDERWATER DEVELOPMENT CAMP provides endless repetitive attempts to promote speed and power on a daily basis.  This camp is designed for ages 9-18.

One of our selling points is an investment of over $55,000.  In 2018, we fundraised and installed 10 state-of-the-art Spectrum starting blocks.  The platforms are strategically placed in both the competition pool and diving well areas.  This affords novice to highly skilled swimmers the opportunity to safely perform start progressions in our facility.

To compliment starts, we focus on decreasing inefficiencies in and out of the turns.  Building a mindset that a turn is a way to generate speed is at the forefront of our curriculum.  Underwater kicking (harmonics) streamlines, and breath control are key focal points.  Training the brain’s limbic system is a large part of breath control, relaxation, and focus.  We believe that a positive mindset is the key to turn development and efficiency.

Our campers receive 10:1 camper-to-coach ratios.  The drill progressions are taught in the classroom first, then translated within large and small group instructional settings.  We pride ourselves on individual feedback, knowing EVERY CAMPER BY NAME!  The size of our facility affords us the opportunity to provide variety in small station settings.

Certified Strength & Conditioning seminar for grades 9-12.  In short, we continuously ask for camper feedback to enhance future experiences.  In 2025 we are contracting a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (NCSA) at no additional charge.  All high school campers will have the opportunity to be educated and trained by a certified specialist at the UWSP Strength Center.  The education component will include safety, modalities, equipment options, modifications and how to train leading into championship meets.  The training component at camp will include daily/weekly/monthly progressions, movement examples, appropriate weight and posture(safety!), implementation of circuits, rest and recovery.

Overnight camper - $595 (includes online registration fees, taxes paid for by registrant).  $200.00 NON-REUNDABLE DEPOSIT REQUIRED AT REGISTRATION.  PAY BALANCE BY June 01, 2025.
